What to do in Park City

HIKING:

Check back for details about a group hike on Friday morning..

We recommend two of our favorite hikes:

Bloods Lake Trail (Bonanza Flat Conservation Area)

What to expect:

2.8 miles out and back with 462 ft elevation gain.  It’s one of our favorites because you can swim in the lake if you like and often see moose.

How to find it:

1. The trail is accessed from the Bloods Lake Trailhead parking area on Marsac Ave. You can easily search Bloods Lake Trailhead on Maps.

2. This trail is featured on the app, All Trails, which is very user friendly.

3. Here are some descriptive directions. From town head up Marsac Ave or from the Montage turn right and continue up the mountain on Marsac Ave. Drive over the peak and pass a small parking area on your right.  Pass a second parking area on your left as you head downhill and Bloods Lake parking area will be on your right a few minutes further on. It is only a 10 min drive from the Montage. The trail starts across the street from the parking area.

Stop at the peak parking on your way there or back to take in the views and walk a few yards into a sweet wedding venue, The Church of Dirt.  It’s unique and charming, very Park City!

Bald Mountain via Silver Lake Trail (Deer Valley Mountain)

What to expect:

2 miles to the peak with 1,266 elevation gain. .  It’s one of our favorites because of the variety of terrain and views. Plus you can choose to walk 2 miles down or ride the free chairlift down.

How to find it:

1. The trail is accessed from the Silver Lake Base of Deer Valley Mountain.  Parking is only available in a paid garage. Search Maps for Silver Lake Lodge Garage for location and driving directions. Other travel options are Uber, local bus, or Montage shuttle.

2. This trail is featured on the app, All Trails, which is very user friendly.

3. Here are some descriptive directions. Once at Silver Lake, walk to the ski lifts  and the Silver Lake trail is on the far left as you look up the mountain. The trailhead sign is small, but accurately placed. This hike is all up hill to the peak, but the views are wonderful and you can ride the free chairlift down.

BIKING:

Check back for details on a group mellow bike on Saturday morning.

Mountain Biking:

World class mountain biking is accessible right out the doors of the Montage and bikes can be rented on the premises.  This is challenging single track riding with lots of ascents and descents. The Mid-Mountain Trail is a favorite and can take you all the way between Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley.

If you are staying town we suggest you rent bikes from Silver Star Ski and Sport.  You can ride challenging mountain trails right from the shop via Armstrong and Mid-Mountain Trails.

These trails can be found on All Trails app.

Easy Bike Riding:

There are many paved and smooth gravel trails starting from town that are an excellent way to explore the area.  Our favorite is the paved trail parallel to Route 224 (main route to PC from highway 80) out past the McPollin Barn (iconic white barn on 224) to the McCloud Creek Trail.  You will end up at a community recreational park with a long flat loop through grasslands and amazing views of the mountains.  Don’t miss the dog park and pond for some pooch watching!

The McCloud Creek Trail is on All Trails app.

There are e-bikes available at many kiosks throughout town that you can rent using your phone.

There are also many bike rental companies in town that rent cruisers or e-bikes appropriate for this ride. We especially like Silver Star Ski and Sport.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

1. The Adventure Center at the base of Park City Mountain resort offers an alpine slide and roller coaster, mini golf as well as rides up the chairlift.

2. The Olympic Park offers a ropes course, tubing, an alpine slide and bobsledding.  You can also catch training or a show of the ski jumpers using the pool as a landing area.

3.  Golf: The municipal golf course is relaxed and amazing.  Clubs can be rented.

4. The Park Silly Market on Historic Main Street on Sunday June 16, starting at 10:00am.
